After 3 days in Prague I can say that I am quite disappointed with the service provided in restaurants. And I what I mean here is that there is absolutely no flexibility. We had a couple of examples, will share some next to the name of the restaurant below.

I read in several travel places that this is the place to be if you want to have breakfast in Prague. So we said lets check it out. The place is called Muj salek kavy and is indeed an interesting place. As I could not find anywhere on the internet the menu in English you can see it at the end of the article. 

The Food was good, I enjoyed a lot the cappuccino they have as well a lemonade with coffee and grapefruit; interesting taste. The service is not the best as in a lot of places in Prague but I would try the breakfast at least once. 

The restaurant is nice and big, we were lucky to find spots as we were 12 :). We tried to put some tables together but the waiter stopped us initially explaining it is impossible as people won't be able to go towards the toilet we explained that we want to sit altogether and then the manager agreed to arrange the tables so that we all stay. We had all different types of food, it was nice, the service decent for Prague maybe I could say good. I tried the tripe soup, which was excellent (especially considering that I don't eat the traditional trip soup of my home country, Romania) and the wild boar stake with risotto.  Maybe they should ask how well done the meat should be. I don't mind the medium rare one anymore but we had some friends that were not happy with it not being well done. A and if you know you can eat get the goat cheese pearls as appetizer , they were super delicious.

This is simply the worst place you can go to. The food is average quality to poor while the prices are very high and the service is impossible to describe. The waiter was drunk, so don't go there, please. 

We love small streets so in general when we are not in an absolute hurry we just try to go deep in the small streets of the city center. We always get lucky with this and so was with this restaurants.
Food was nice and reasonable priced, the service was very nice, they helped us with getting a surprise cake for one of our friend that had a birthday. They switched out the lights and brought the dessert with a candle next to it. We got some discount vouchers for our next visit.

I am not a big NYE fan as I strongly believe that you can have far better parties throughout the year than just on a particular day. Nonetheless, we decided to have a New Years road-trip and checked out what options we have available. As we leave in Belgium, it had to be decent term distance, then another aspect was the fireworks show and last but not least the prettiness of the city. In the end we had as option Edinburgh and Prague and we decided for Prague. 

We checked out some parties and we found some excellent reviews about Hangar Bar which is right in the center. They offered 2 menus one with finger food (1100 CZ krone) and one with normal dinner (2000 CZ krone).  We opted for the finger food menu and you could order extra burgers from their regular menu if still hungry. In the price you get a kir royale and 2 tequila or vodka shots for free. 

The service was excellent, especially as we were difficult customers. We are used with non smoking bars thus the news that in CZ smoking is allowed caught us by surprise. even so, once we mentioned that some of the people in the group are bothered by the smoke they put the ventilation higher and you could literally not feel the smoke & smell (only after 3:30 or so when it was free entry it started to get smokey)  

Other than that, music was great, the bartenders did an amazing job both with preparing excellent cocktails and putting out a nice show dancing and juggling with bottles. At midnight we went out a few steps from the bar to spot a great firework show. 

We had an absolute great and amazing time we loved the atmosphere and if ever in Prague for NYE take Hangar into account.

There is a tradition going on in Prague that on the 1st of January at 18:00 in the main square (the one with the clock) the city will through a fireworks show. People gather mainly on Charles Bridge which becomes ultra crowded. Better try one of the neighbor bridges for a better view.  Below Best we could get from where we were(end of Charles Bridge)

We went to Prague for 3 nights over the NYE, we thus had only 31st of December time to go sightseeing. You can check the NYE experience under link and I will review in a separate post the restaurants we've been to. 

We enjoy walking a lot and although very cold it was a very sunny day so we decided to walk around. We took the Vltava river and started our itinerary at the Dancing house 

The Dancing House is another impressive building designed by the famous Canadian architect Frank Gehry  this time in collaboration with the Czech architect Vlado Milunic 

The house represents a woman and a man dancing together. The woman (Ginger Rogers) is the building on the left while the man (Fred Astair ) holding the woman is the building on the right. 

From here following the river we continued our way to Charles Bridge. We found some street art

and a bit further down a church 

while on the left side you have the river with the view over the bridge and the castle. 

Prague was crowded this day thus it can take a long time to get from one point to the other allowing not enough time to see all the city. Still you can get a nice idea about it. When at the Charles Bridge go to the right towards the clock

There are a lot of souvenirs around, what I found very funny are these football matryoshkas. Other nice things are all the CZ crystals you can buy or loads of magnets with cats or other famous things around Prague. 

The astrological clock from Prague is the 3rd oldest astrological clock in the world but the only one that is still functional. The clock was installed in 1410 and every sharp hour the windows at the top open and you can see some dolls going in front of the window. The clock is very nice but the sharp hour moment is not very spectacular. 

From the main market we went back towards the bridge. It was crowded, very crowded so if you are a group try to stay together. The bridge offers very nice views and a lot of hand made souvenirs. 

From the bridge you can go right and walk towards Kafka Museum. On your way you will find the narrowest street, Spreuerhofstrasse, which measures 12 inches at the narrowest point. Even so it has it's own traffic lights so that it avoids that people can't pass once they meet from opposite directions. 

From here continue towards the Kafka museum. Unfortunately we arrived to late to enter but we could take some pictures at the Pissing fountain. There are 2 men that seem to be pissing in CZ. The fountain is designed in the shape of the country. 

If you go now back towards the bridge and take the fist street on the left this time, follow it and you will reach the wall dedicated to John Lennon. It is a challenge to get a shot without people, that's what I managed.

Heading now back to our hotel, we made a last stop was at the statues representing the Memorial for the Victims of Communism. This was unveiled 12 years after the communism fell and "is meant to make the observer think about the history it portrays" (source). You can find the statues at the foot of Petrin Hill.

There is a lot of prettiness around Prague, maybe just try visiting in low season.
