If you are planning to send a day out in the nature here some ideas. I will split in 3 categories: car - bike - walk so that it makes it easier to chose what is best for you. Keep in mind that I love to walk, so what I see as a walking opportunity, you might prefer the bike or car. Everything is considered from the center of Leuven. I'll be adding more to this if opportunities come up.

It's been almost 10 years that I've came to Belgium. 10 years, which I don't even realized when and where they passed, and this little city was my second home for a third of my life. If you have never visited Leuven, Belgium you should. It's a wonderful day trip from Brussels, 25 min by train. You can no excuse.  

Reaching Gent is super easy, get a train from Brussels (or where you are based) and in less than 1h you are there. From the Train Station you can grab a tram that drops you right in the city center. If you like walking is a 30 min walk from the station to the main square of the city. 

I've been to Antwerp 50 times I think, but somehow never on a tourist route. So it was one lovely sunny (but cold) Saturday and as I had no clear plans for the day, I decided to jump on a train and off to a day trip to the Diamond City. 

It is maybe true hat Hasselt does not pop up with a lot of details in all the tourism guides, but if you have some time to spend in Belgium or you live in this country, you should definitely pass by for at least a few hours especially in spring.  

If you are from places like Greece, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Portugal or the Caribbean then you'll probably tell me that why would you spend your time visiting the Belgian Coast. Well because it's different! I know you won't have the super blue water or the white sand of some other places around the world but you'll get to experience some of the widest and longest beaches out there, making it perfect for long walks/runs on the beach. 

Under the tag Gentse Winterfeesten, Gent dressed up in Xmas Cloths decorating the city with lights, but the main action is spread out from Sint-Baafsplein, along the Botermarkt and Klein Turkije to the end of the Korenmarkt. 

Leuven is definitely a very nice and cute Flemish city, so it makes it a perfect 1/2 or even full day trip from Brussels. Here some of the 3 most interesting streets of the city (in my opinion of course :))

It's been long that I wanted to write a post about Brussels but as I never got to visit it in a structured way I somehow did not manage to put my thoughts in a clear way together. But now I think it's time to give it a try.

It was brought to my attention by a street-art project called Lier UP, which scope is to bring some color to the city. After that I also saw an advertisement in Leuven station that you can reach Lier in 35 min, so I added this little city to my travel list ;)
