They say in German, "alle gute Dinge sind drei" and it seems that it somehow applies to my relationship with Milan.
Italy is an amazing country, and I go there every year, maybe I already mentioned it, but I think it's worth repeating. I have a lot of spots under my favorite ones but Milan is not my first choice when travelling to Italy. I've been here the first time when I was almost 11 and the only thing that impressed me at that time was the Dom as it was super huge, I came back in 2012 to realize that the size was not as impressive as I remembered (obviously!) so Milan went down on my list. This year though we went to visit some friends who recently moved and exploring it locally, I must say Milan does have some nice things to enjoy.
Accommodation
We stayed at an airbnb close to Porta Romana. Very convenient location so completely recommend the area (and the place where we stayed, Airbnb: Celine's place - Entire home in Milano). In the evening we just had a drink at the bar next to the place, it was an Irish Pub but it was the closest
It was funny as they had white german beer and the tap beer was Cristal from Belgium (and living in Be, I must say, it is far from being the best beer......and it should be much cheaper!!!)......BUT the Guinness and the chicken wings were super great!
Our Saturday ItineraryDuomo
There is no way to go to Milan and not see the Dom, I mean it is so big that you can't really miss it, anyway, as all millions of tourist we exited the metro at the stop Duomo. It was a full blue sky sunny day in Milan but not hot (we went there mid April). Well, we went around the Dom to have a look around the less busy areas.
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele
With no plan for shopping or sitting somewhere, we crossed the galleries to our next destination
Luini
As you might have read in other posts on my blog, we love streetfood. And so we tried the panzerotti @Luini. Must say that there were very good. You should give them a try
MontenapoleonePalazzo dal Verme
this is not easy to find, the address is: Via G. Puccini, nr 3. It is not listed as a touristic attraction, it is actually the courtyard of some apartment buildings.
Science Museum - Leonardo Da Vinci
The museum has a lot of interesting things to see and a great idea for both kids and grown ups.
take about 2h as it is quite big
Break----beer followed by apericena at Bhangra Bar
AperiCena - is a great concept that they have in Italy. You buy a cocktail and you get all you can eat food...nice, right. Sorry, no pictures, as I was too focused on eating.
âEnd the night with drinks around :) Our Sunday Itinerary â
this day is less exciting to share as it involves a lot of personal meetings with friends :) but here some highlights
Walk the streets
as said we were staying at Porta Romana so we took the streets direction center towards the house of our friends.
and of course the street art you can spot while walking
If you ever get the chance
eat at the house of your Italian friend
Villa Invernizzi
House of some cute pink flamingos, Villa Inverizzi is open to public during the week, we were there on Sunday so we could only spot them through the gates.
Brera district
A super nice and cute neighborhood to walk around and maybe stop for coffee is the Brera district.
you can find loads of restaurants, cute houses and even some great art to buy
Palazzo Lombardia
They say that a great view over Milan is from the top of Palazzo Lombardia, and it is very possible with its 39 floors. It's accessible to public on Sunday between 10:00 - 18:00, but be there early, as the queues are significant. We did not go up as we had a train to catch...
Central Train Station
and from here the airport. Btw, important to keep in mind, you need to validate the train tickets otherwise they won't count and you'll get a fine!
Malpensa Ariport
the only thing we did not get to eat in Milan was pizza, so we got a slice at the airport, not as good, but decent
and so our weekend trip came to an end, maybe see you again Milan ;)
