I've been asked by many why I decided to go for my B-day to Napoli and my answer was a mix of different reason: I was here for my b-day on my first trip 19 years ago, it has Pompeii close by, it has several gorgeous islands, it has the FOOD. Now after a great trip, I must say, that it was the right choice to step into the 3rd floor of my life here.
It was hard to actually do a city trip and checking of the list what you have to see, I was with 10 friends there and my parents came to surprise me as well, but I still managed to explore a bit. Here you can find some details.
What to see in a few hour
We started our little tour from our hostel and we aimed to reach Castel dell'Ovo it was a tricky day as it was raining a lot and it was very windy, but we managed to get some good moments in between
Fist Stop: Castel Nouvo
We did not enter as the people from the hostel advised it is not worth the money from the inside.
Galleria Umberto I -- shopping gallery
The Galleries look super nice, you can enter for free, you can find some shops around. "It was built between 1887-1891, and was the cornerstone in the decades-long rebuilding of Naples - called the risanamento (lit. "making healthy again") - that lasted until World War I. It was designed by Emanuele Rocco, who employed modern architectural elements reminiscent of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. The Galleria was named for Umberto I, King of Italy at the time of construction. It was meant to combine businesses, shops, cafes and social life - public space - with private space in the apartments on the third floor" (Source)
Piazza del PlebiscitoCastel dell'ovo
one of the places offering a lovely view in Napoli is Castel dell'Ovo an don top of this it is free. So I would not miss it.
and back towards the city we passed by this lovely gate
Even if you don't have much time, Napoli offers a special experience and I must say it is totally worth visiting. Although we had absolutely no problem and we all returned with our wallets, might be good to keep an extra eye on your belongings and be careful when crossing the street, but to be fair it looks much better than some years ago :)
