This post aims to give you an overview of a hiking weekend in Norway. We came just for the Trolltunga hike and so I'll provide details on how to keep it low budget and make the hike all in one (long) weekend.
I was in the mood for a hike and so I asked friends around who is willing to give it a try and in the end we were 5 :). Our biggest constraint was time, as we could only have 1 day off and we wanted to keep it within a small budget (under 500 Euro/person)
Friday
We took a late flight, Brussels has a flight to Oslo leaving 20:50 which brings you at Oslo Airport right before 23:00. We booked a car so that we have full flexibility and drove directly to our accommodation 15 min from the airport.
When you arrived at the airport, try (if you can) not to get overwhelmed by all the big size chocolates they have in the duty free. We could not, so ended up buying some Toffee, M&Ms and Ritter Sport.
I found that Airbnb is the best option for accommodation in Norway when looking at the quality - price value (I usually prefer Booking.com)
I need to add a line here regarding our accommodation. I was very happy to find out that in the house where we were staying will have kittens on site. From discussions with the landlady, I can only highlight the importance of carefully reading the description of the house as she had issues with guests coming who are allergic to cats (although the description clearly states that there are cats on the property).

Saturday
We woke up early as we had almost 360 km to drive to Roldal. Roldal is a village in the municipality of Odda same as Trolltunga is.
We choose Roldal over Odda to sleep, even if further away, due to the quality price of the apartments/houses we could find
The road is super nice and we stopped for some photos along the way.
I had to research what is the deal with all the grass on the roof of some of the houses and here what I found:
Today grass roofs (Norwegian: torvtak = English: turf roof) are built out of tradition but back in the days they had more practical reasons:
There are a lot of gas station along the way, toilet is free. Several of the gas stations have also a super market next to them so you can buy food from there. We got pizza for dinner and a lot of breakfast things. Bare in mind it's not cheap. So make sure you buy as much as you need and not more.

Sunday
We woke up early as we wanted to start the hike before 7 AM. There are 55 km to P2 in Skjeggedal (driving time approx. 1:05h)
We started our hike at 06:26 and I can only recommend starting early. The overview off all the hike, I will cover in detail in a separate post.
We left towards Odda for dinner and checked out the restaurant called Glaciar which serves Asian, MiddleEastern and European food both veg and nonveg. The food was good and at decent prices.
Although my feet were killing me, I went a few meters around for some pictures.
Back to the house, we enjoyed a relaxed evening at the TV.
Monday
We had our flight back to Brussels at 18:00. As a precaution (you never know what happens on the road for so many kilometers) we left a bit after 08:00 towards the airport.
We took some more pictures from the road, which was really gorgeous
And we made it at the airport at 15:00. I think it's a record of early arrival :)
To sum up, 3 days, 824 km driving, 28 km hiking, 2 accommodation & just under 500 Euro per person (all including) is the summary of the Trolltunga Hike weekend.
