Traditions are in my opinion some of the most valuable things a nation has and to be able to keep the same traditions over time is priceless. I was very happy to discover that there is this house in Maramures area Romania that offers it's guests a unique and traditional experience: Casa Traditiilor in Ieud.
Picture
if you want to experience Romania as it most naturally is, pass by Casa Traditiilor at least for one night. The hosts are welcoming and all dressed in traditional costumes. The Food is done out of local products and cooked same day. Best is to call for bookings 0040763.768.648. I am not sure if they speak English but give it a try you'll have an absolute amazing experience

The Room

We stayed in Casa Mare, the price for the apartment is approx 35 Euro and it can accommodate
Bedroom - 1 double bed
Living Room - 2 single beds
Couch - extendable
Picture
the beds are very relaxing, the couch of course not as nice as sleeping in the bed.

The common area

You have all traditional carpets around (btw...did you know that they are on the cultural world heritage list of UNESCO?) where you can play some board games or watch TV.
Picture
and some traditional pottery (made locally in the village)

The kitchen & the food

the kitchen as everything else is nicely decorated with Romanian traditional motifs

some more details :)
The dinner will be always different and it will depend on what the women working there will cook. all is prepared with local products so the taste is extremely good. Below a picture of one of Romanian's most traditional desserts. This is called Papanasi and it comes usually in pairs, in my group of friends we call them boobies, I guess you see why ;). They are like donuts with sour cream and homemade gem
Picture
for breakfast we will always have fresh vegetables and some cheese, the rest depends a bit on the season and the day of the week.
Picture

the garden

for sunny days, the garden seems to be a super relaxing place where you can enjoy the fresh air
I am sure you see why this place is so amazing, so add Romania on your bucketlist and and this place on your itinerary it makes a perfect location for visiting Maramures.
