A hike, crystal clear blue waters and a waterfall, this seem to be great ingredients for a great day trip from Ljubljana. "The 1.6 km long Vintgar gorge carves its way through the vertical rocks of the Hom and Bort hills and is graced by the Radovna with its waterfalls, pools and rapids [...] The Gorge was discovered by Jakob Zumer, the Major of Gorje, and the cartographer and photographer Benedikt Lergetporer in 1891. [...] To one interpretation, the name Vintgar originates from German Weingarten (the vineyards in the nearby Podhom), whilst the other interpretation says that the gorge section reminds on the wine glass." but what is happening in winter? I checked on the official website and it mentions closed in winter, till April, but then I researched a bit more and basically if the weather is good people said there was no reason not to go and on top of this it was for free.
Well we have a saying in Romanian that "socoteala de acasa nu se potriveste cu cea din targ" or in English would be "things never turn out as planned". So we went there
and we continued our walk
until we reach the pretty water
but then the road ends here as they have placed a gate that does not allow you to get further :( but still completely worth the trip especially if you are on your way to Bled anyway :)
and now it is time to head back to the cars, even if the trip was cut short, I must say that this is a place I will really want to see again.
