It is such a long story how I ended up going to Stockholm, but to give you a glimpse of it: I was intended to go there early in the year, but in the end it did not work out. Then I was discussing for my friend Claudia to go somewhere sunny for a long weekend, but the prices were quite high for just a few days and when we realized that none of has has been to Stockholm we said: we give the sun for some quality time @FIKAs :)
Getting There
There are 3 airports around Stockholm. I landed on ARN (Arlanda Airport) and from there you have 3 options to get to the center by public transport:
Option 1 - TRAIN: Arlanda Express - which is the fastest (20 min) but most expensive (approx 27 Euro one way). you can get more info under Link
Option 2 - EXPRESS BUS: There are 2 companies that you can use & you can book in advance
- FlixBus - approx 40 min & cheaper, but you would need to normally take the bus you book
- Flybussarna - approx 50 min & 99,00 kr (approx 10 Euro) but they work till later at night & the ticket is not time definite. I recommened downlaoding the APP. More info under Link
Option 3 - Local transport - there is the cheapest transfer from the airport to the center if you have a SL public transport ticket (or you buy a one-time single ticket if you don't plan to use public transport when in Stockholm).
Take bus 583 from the airport and go direction Marsta. From there take the Commuter Train (J) train nr. 42X or 41 to Central Station or Odenplan Station

Accommodation
Booking accommodation in Stockholm is not cheap. One option that leaves you in the center is Generator Hostel. I was told it is good and worth the money given the location.
We stayed in an apartment booking.com which was very close to the metro stop. It's only downside was that at night it was more difficult to reach if you missed the last metro. (there are buses though)
