incredible or not, this is my second time in Bruges and I leave in Belgium for already 7 years. To be honest, there are so many nice places to see that sometimes you don't manage to see all for the second time.
get in by train
it's easy and no need to bother with parking places. the train station is close by the city center so you have no reason why not to try the train (+ you help the environment! :) )
climb the tower - Belfry
is a medieval bell tower in the historical center of Bruges, Belgium. One of the city's most prominent symbols, the belfry formerly housed a treasury and the municipal archives, and served as an observation post for spotting fires and other danger. A narrow, steep staircase of 366 steps, accessible by the public for an entry fee, leads to the top of the 83 m (272 feet) high building, which leans about a meter (3 ft) to the east.
below some pictures from inside
Entrance Fee can be checked HERE.
Keep in mind that the last entry is earlier than the closing time. take a boat trip
it's almost a cliche, but completely worth it. Take a boat trip around the canals, it gives a nice view of the city.
no worries for the queues, there are a lot of boats so it will go fast ;)
go around the small street
one of the nicest things is to get lost on the streets and admire the cute Flemish houses; it brings the fairy-tale feeling, plus you escape a bit the crowds
try the chocolate + buy the chocolate
Now that you walked so much it's time to gain some calories back. You know Belgium is famous for its pralines, so don't forget to get some also home to family and friends, they will love you for that
Waffels
and who does not LOVE waffles??? and the Belgian ones are absolutely awesome.
eat frites
had too much sweats? it's time for some typical Belgian (i'll call it) snack. The French Fries that are Belgium's national dish....don't forget the sauce (mayonnaise ideally, to make it Belgian all the way) we went for andalouse this time
Beer
ok,Belgium = Beer so it's like paradise for anyone that is into trying very special beers, but there is something even more special about Bruges & Beer, a pipeline, yeap, you read it right they will have a beer pipeline "Belgium's first major beer pipeline will start pumping beneath Bruges from September" (2016) (The Guardian)
Until then, don't forget to pick your favorite one from the local Tourist shop (you can find them normally cheaper at Delhaize/Carrefour shops) to bring home to your friends
Salukes!!!
