It's beginning to look a lot like Xmas
It's that time of the year when all cities change clothes preparing for the magical Xmas time. The same goes for Leuven which this years pimped up it's Christmas clothes and is all super pretty decorated for Santa's arrival
under the title "Wintertijd in Leuven" the main squares and streets are all xmasy decorated and so everyone around starts counting down the days till Xmas.
Bondgenotenlaan
The street that connects the train station to the city center is filled with lights on the sides.
and the view towards the end gets better and better :)
Grote Markt - Winter Garden
Under the tagline Wintertijd in Leuven the big square of the city prepared this year a special decoration. This is the first time that the city hall is differently decorrated compared to the previous years.
The garden was extended by an additional attraction this year. In the inn, designed by the artist Pieter Janssens, you can come and watch the antics of Le Petit Chef. This little chef will treat you to an exquisite meal. Take a seat at a table for four and be amazed by this short funny 3D light projection designed by the collective Skullmapping from Leuven. and I must say, I like these little details
Oude Markt
Oude Markt is the place to be in Leuven, this is where everything happens, all the parties all the bars and all the students, this is the most alive part of the city. All the little trees around the market are filled with lights which give the market a special feeling.
Xmas Market in Ladeuzeplein Herbert Hooverplein
With the first edition dating 1988, Leuven Christmas Market is one of the first Xmas Markets in Belgium. Not because I live here, but the location of the market is ideal for bringing the feeling of a fairy tale, if only we get some snow flakes this year :)
Don't forget Santa is waiting for you at the market, you get the chance to look into different roomas of his house and of course if you want to meet him, you can as well, but you need to stay in line
and some of the Xmas foods
and some of the more special ones
Several countries came with what they have best
and of course some companies popped up, not a bad idea though :)
Some of the souvenirs you can find around
and I don't want to forget the live Xmas Carols
In total there were 1.5 million LED lights installed in Leuven with a cost of 210.000 Euro to create a magical Christmas atmosphere.....so this is Christmas :)
