"to be an artist is to believe in life! " ~ Joan Miro Barcelona is most probably the favorite city of loads of people and so it is also mine. Although never lived there I have been going to Barcelona 5-6 times each year. There is always a good reason to pass by and I intensely love the city. There are 1 million things I like about Barcelona, and one of them is Joan Miro whose art I only recently discovered. A Catalan friend of mine recommended to go at the museum but as honestly paintings are not really my thing I decided to go to Camp Nou instead.....but a surprise was waiting for me at the museum of the world renowned football club of Barcelona ... a painting of Joan Miro :) I was impressed about how much simple lines can actually transmit and as of that moment I starting paying more attention at his art....and you can actually find some of Miro's art around Barcelona The artist donated the pieces of art to the city in order for it to welcome all the tourist that are coming to discover Barcelona. La Rambla ....is one of the most touristic place in the whole Barcelona, but have you noticed that you are actually walking over a piece of art? The mosaic is circular like the cosmos and its basic colours – yellow, blue and red – and simple forms, are redolent of Joan Miró’s language: an intuitive language that retains the purity of the world of childhood. (Source) When landing on el Part T2 (coming with Ryanair for example) there is a wall created by the artist. And yet again in the city you can find in Parc de Joan Miro (address: Carrer d'Aragó, 2, 08015 Barcelona, Spain) one of his famous sculptures: Dona i Ocell The name of the sculpture is "Catalan for Woman and Bird, and is one of several works the artist executed with these themes. The work is somewhat risqué in its phallic shape, a deliberate reference to the Catalan word for bird being also used as a slang term for a penis. The large ovate opening down the main shaft, lined in black tiles, is a representation of the female vulva."
