The most orange oranges I ever saw and they are everywhere :)
1. Esgarraet
Seems to be a local dish in Valencia and the best one it is said to be at La Pilareta. The Esgarraet is basically cod fish with red peppers and some olive oil & garlic
2. Paella Valenciana
it is a clear must if in Valencia to try the local paella as Albufera, the park very close to Valencia is the place from where it originated. There are several restaurants in town where you can give it a try
3. Horchata
the most famous place is Horchateria Santa Catalina. If you wander what it is, it;'s basically a milky drink made from ground almonds, tiger nuts, or rice.
5. Agua de Valencia
it looks like orange juice....but
it is actually much more, a recipe says something like this:
200 mL Orange juice 50 mL Gin 50 mL Vodka 700 mL Cava a pinch of Sugar excellent, a absolute must try! 6. not necessarily typical Valencian but
you are in Spain, so tortilla, pimientos del padron or patatas bravas are must tries :)
I loved the food in Valencia, and what I am most pound of is that my father for whom trying out new foods (except stake) is a big NO, but managed to have him try some local Spanish dishes and he was super positively surprised at the end. I am sure you'll be too :)
