The Moselle River "flows for 195km from Trier to Koblenz on a slow, winding course, with entrancing scenery around every hairpin bend: vine-ribboned hillsides, colourful half-timbered medieval villages, crumbling hilltop castles, elegant Jugendstil (art nouveau) villas, and ancient wine warehouses." The castle, the colorful houses, narrow streets, the vineyards & the river make Cochem the most attractive town on the Moselle Valley
It's almost incredible that i needed so much time to actually get to visit Berlin. But I finally made it and had a great time with excellent weather.
If you like Castles and Nature then this castle will definitely get to be on top of your list. The Eltz castle is a medieval castle which's construction began before 1157. The castle still belongs to the heirs of the Eltz family which lived there in the 12th century.
We never had the time to properly visit the city, but we stayed over twice as it happened to be convenient. Heidelberg definitely deserves more and I hopefully will manage soon to give it more than a couple of hours.

ok, for those who never heard of him, he is the guy that created the castle that appears in the Disney movie Sleeping Beauty and which attracts more than 1.3 Mil people every year from all over the world. Namely the Neuschwanstein Castle. He has also built the a bit less famous Linderhof Castle and Herrenchiemsee.
Neuschwanstein is build 30 min walk away from his childhood house the Hohenschwangau Castle. Ludwig II had 2 big passions: Luis XIV of France and Richard Wagner so everything he built was with them in mind. |
